About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Rebecca, Having students write down their complaints is very effective. Normally, the problems resolves itself by using this practice. The student sees on paper it is really not a big deal or the student really simmers down. Patricia
Hi Nancy, First impressions are lasting. You never get an opportunity to make another first impression. Patricia
Hi Wendy, I like the idea of giving positive feedback when the class does well. Patricia
Hi Rodney, There should be a distinct UNSPOKEN role of the instructor verses student. Patricia
Hi Dorrell, You can not allow the students to be on a personal level with you. Your relationship with the student is strictly professional in nature. Patricia
Hi Fredrik, Most students will do this knowingly it is wrong. They play the "I don't know card" to avoid getting in trouble. College students know about plagiarism. Patricia
Hi Kenneth, Students need to know up front if they are caught cheating what the repercussions will be. Patricia
Hi Aprilyn, Boundaries must be set whenever you have a role that deals with students. Patricia
Hi Jacquleyn, You are right! Students love active learning. Patricia
