About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi James, Nicely responded to! There are two totally distinct roles, and you summed them up! Patricia
Hi Phillippe, Absolutely! At some point, students must learn how to take ownership. Students need to understand the importance of taking responsibility for their own action. Patricia
Hi Suzanne, It seems like whenever you get the students' signature it seems more important to them; and they tend to latch on to what was discusssed. Patricia
Hi Russell, Most of our students are very serious about obtaining knowledge and skills so that they can become experts in their chosen fields. We have to continue to motivate and encourage them. Talking about salary is a great motivator. Patricia
Hi Terri, What an awesome practice! Everybody should do this. I speak to everyone I come in contact with, but I do not make rounds as you do. Great job!!! Patricia
Hi Adrienne, Students want someone to care about them. It means a lot to students whenever instructors reach out to them. Patricia
Hi Vicki, You and your students will thoroughly enjoy guest speakers, especially a graduate guest speaker. Patricia
Hi Lori, Most students really appreciate it whenver assignments are due on Monday. Most of our students work full-time jobs and having the weekend to get school work done really helps them. Patricia
Hi Andre, You definitely have the upper hand on some inexperienced instructors. It sounds like you can bring in a lot of your personal experiences in the field to share with your students. Students love hearing personal stories pertaining to the subject matter. Patricia
Hi Jeanne, Students appreciate knowing up front what is required and expected of them. Rules, policies, procedures, etc. should be made known on Day 1. Patricia
