Activity

You need to establish clear program goals and make sure that your partners are invested and map out wats for students to complete the programs/pathways. Makes sure your advisory board has active partners who are willing to help with the program.

Bringing awareness to the NEW CTE is what we all need to be doing. There is not enough in the budget to do all that we re ""required"" to do or asked to do each year through our CTE programs. For small, rural, high poverty schools, many students cannot participate in the program of meetings, competitions, etc. due to lack of funding.

The contribution of in-kind and other tangible donations is needed in most CTE classrooms. Without the help of partners, many things would not be possible without the help. I am finally in a place where I can reach out and ask for donations from community partners, and they will help me secure the needs of the classroom.

Having the support of an instructor and industry partner can be helpful so that the students can see what is out there for them to do if they are not interested in college and want to jump into a career as soon as they graduate high school.

To meet the needs of the future workforce, we in the classrooms, need to know what is needed outside of the classroom. To get that knowledge, we must have the outside come in... so to speak.

Allow them to be open, honest and to present their thoughts and ideas for growing the advisory board or our CTE program. They are more likely to help and be on the board if I show them what we do, how we do it and also show my shortcomings in regard to getting it all done and needing the extra "ear" or "hand" to help me out.

For our program to be successful, we must have input from community partners so that we can showcase and grow the program, while allowing the current students access to see and hear from community parents who were in similar family/life situations while in high school.

I know how important a piece it is to have community partners, but I also know how hard it is to secure those partners, especially in a rural, 70% poverty community, where a majority of one or more parents do not work and if they work, it is limited to 1-2 businesses.

My students know within a few days that i request respect from them in return, I respect them> They know I like a clean and organized classroom and that we can have fun, as long as we get our work done.

I apply this daily when students leave by reminding them to clean up and put up each day.

Ask myself if I can learn the material the way it is presented. Knowing that my students, just like my children, learn in different ways.

Build from what you know and what works for most students, adding in the differentiated methods to capture allof your students in some way during the lesson.
