This lesson enforced the need to implement safety within the lab environment daily.

Through learning about cultural competency in education, I have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of recognizing and respecting each student's unique background, experiences, values, and perspectives. I have learned that effective teaching requires more than delivering information; it requires building relationships, practicing empathy, and creating an environment where all students feel included and respected.

I have learned that it is important to understand the learning preferences of each student and how each student plans to be successful. 

I have learned that as an instructor, it is important to remove bias from education. As this relates to language and literacy. As an instructor, I plan on using the tools and knowledge from these modules, to help my students include "mother language" throughout his/her learning journal. 

AS a faculty member, I have learned that it is important to be knowledgeable concerning the culture of each student.

This helps with understanding how to apply diversity as a faculty member.
