The most common educator mistake is believing that we will fail. It's interesting to note that most students have the same fear when taking our courses.

I have learned that to successfully navigate these various types of students, I must first know my students. Navigating through the classroom, and getting to know the students individually will be invaluable in the management of their behaviors. It is also important to have a plan in place for the consequences of behaviors before the class session begins.

I have learned that all types of challenging students are seeking the approval and understanding of the teacher. They are also all reaching out in their own way to have their needs met. As a teacher, we can use the strategies provided for each type of student to meet their individual needs.

I have learned that setting the stage involves any step that gives students access to the content that will be covered in your course, or the confidence to get involved with their own learning.
