You need both a competent leader and manager to achieve goals.  The leader is the visionary who asks the questions and challenges the status quo and the manager is the one who executes and keeps things stable.

It is a myth that leaders are born, not made.  People can become great leaders by both gaining experience and through education.  What also stood out to me is that leaders are the visionaries and that managers execute the actions to fulfill the goals.

I have learned that there are several myths surrounding management roles such as:  managers are cold, uncaring and controlling.  Another myth is that the top performer should be the manager.  This works in some cases but not all.  A manager should have several transferrable skills to be successful.

Everyone has different learning preferences whether it's visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc. and instructors must adapt their teaching methodologies to accommodate the different learning styles.

In terms of assessment, it should be holistic, not just standardized tests in order to be able to recognize areas of opportunity and strengths for students.

We should not assume that someone who is learning English as a second language is struggling or that they have low literacy skills.  Inversely, we should not assume that someone who is monolingual in English has better literacy in the language than someone who is bilingual or multilingual.

Also, it is helpful to have bilingual instructors when students are learning another language and they should be encouraged to still have access to their mother tongue.

Culture refers to differences in regions, language, food, music, art, etc.  It is important to be aware of cultural differences in our students in order to have appropriate learning outcomes.  We cannot assume everyone is the same; they need to be treated as individuals instead of being grouped together.

Race and culture are not the same; race refers more to physical characteristics whereas culture is more holistic.

I have learned that we must not use stereotypes, generalize or make assumptions as this is detrimental to student success.  Everyone learns differently and we must plan our teaching strategies with this in mind in order to be inclusive.

Depending on the specific nature of the problem, remedies for the complainant may include, but are not limited to:

Providing an effective escort to ensure that the complainant can move safely between classes and activities.
Providing comprehensive, holistic victim services including medical, counseling, and academic support services, such as tutoring.
Arranging for the complainant to have extra time to complete or re-take a class or withdraw from a class without an academic or financial penalty.
Reviewing any disciplinary actions taken against the complainant to see if there is a causal connection between the sexual violence and the misconduct that may… >>>

Title IX Coordinator should work with the institution to help make sure that the grievance procedures are written in language that is easily understood by the intended audience and widely disseminated.
Second, the Title IX Coordinator should review the grievance procedures to help determine whether they incorporate all of the elements required for the prompt and equitable resolution of student and employee complaints under Title IX, consistent with the Title IX regulatory requirement and OCR guidance, including the requirements related to VAWA crimes.
Third, the Title IX Coordinator should communicate with students, parents or guardians, and school employees to help… >>>

I learned that schools are mandated to assist victims of sexual abuse and harassment by following standard reporting procedures and through the provision of appropriate support to students This protocol therefore serves to ensure a safe, caring and enabling environment for learning and teaching, both inside and outside of the classroom.
