Learning the breakdown of each segment of our educational process and the different types of support offered (some more obvious like “tutoring” compared to more subtle examples like “appreciation events”) really helps give insight to the well-rounded approach our campus employs to bolster student support

I was interested to learn of the student’s perceptions and responses to stress can follow a predictable pattern/arc and as educators we’re in a unique position to either help prevent (or inadvertently promote) their attrition by how we choose to support them during their stress responses 

I learned the most common reasons students opt to leave a program they’ve started and how the loss of retention affects the various levels of the organization (management, faculty, admissions, etc). I hadn’t realized the many events our campus hosts for promoting student engagement also support strengthening student’s bonds to our program and can serve to decrease the amount of attrition.
