I learned that although FERPA protects the student records there are some agencies that do not need the student permission to access their records, such as Military and Home Land Security.  ALso other privacy laws such as HIppa may overide FERPA Law.  FERPA laws still apply outside of the institution for example Social Media, Vendors  and Housing.  School must be careful who they share information with.  

I learned that Secure Protocols are used to protect student records.    Records are handled carefully and policies are strictly enforced.

I learned that student's records are protected by FERPA and understanding how FERPA works.   Individuals need student's written permission to access the student's records if they do not have direct involvement with the record

I learned Student's Educational Records are confidential and are protected.
