Hi James - welcome to ED 103! As you mention, the lack of foundation skills can be a real problem as we try to cover new material. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan
HI Geraldine - Are you in Hawaii?? Pittsburgh is freezing - Hawaii sounds like heaven! Susan
HI Uwe- Thanks for your post to the forum! It is challenging to make our classrooms places for open discussion as you mention, but the results are excellent in terms of student success. Best wishes - Susan
Hi Jeff - Thank you for your post to the forum! Are the films available for your students to use for review? Best wishes - Susan
Hi Geraldine- Your formative evaluation is right on the mark! It will assist your students in completing their final projects and give you a strong indication of how they are doing. Best wishes - Susan
Hi Walter- Welcome to ED 103! I like your idea of giving some quiet study time for your students while still in class. Too often our students do not encounter questions they may have until they are at home and out of touch with us. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career -Susan
HI Donald - Welcome to ED 103! I agree- in The K-12 environment the classroom environment is probably more of a consideration. Where I see problems in the adult Ed arena is ususlly where there are technology issues - i.e the projector doesn't work, The students' logins are incorrect etc.. It is annoying and upsetting to students. Thanks for your post to the forum! Best wishes - Susan
HI Rick - Welcome to ED 103! Your assessment plan does seem to be quite comprehensive! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
HI Lachlan- I agree- students have to understand that they will need to particpate in class activities which will include answering questions. What you describe though is the ideal situation in which a student is made to feel safe in participating. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan
Hi Cristine- Wow - Thank you for such a heartfelt testimonial!! I had the exact same experience in college - even had an instructor say that he used to be in industry but did not like working with people - his delivery style was to lecture while writing on the board with his back to the class. Questions were not welcomed! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan
