HI Ricardo - Thank you for your post! I agree that students are usually honest if not a bit negative about themselves. Best wishes - Susan
HI Olga- Welcome to ED 103! You describe an excellent learning environment - Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan
HI Clare - Welcome to ED 103! I so agree - students really need to have feedback on a regular basis so that they know how they are doing. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan
HI Craig - Thanks for your post to the forum! I agree, in Technical/Career education often the abilty to demonstrate application is the best assessment. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan
HI Craig - I find that many times these students have had what we call in Pennsylvania "IEPs" - Individualized Education Plans in their K-12 education because they have learning disabilities. If so,we can offer special considerations such as reading the test to the student or giving extended time for testing. Does your state have something similar? Best wishes - Susan
HI James - Terrific - glad that you liked it! Susan
HI James - I think that we have had a lot of discussion about lecture which normally appeals to the Auditory learner. For the most part the posts have addressed ways to break up lecture to include delivery that also addresses the other styles. Thanks for your post! Susan
HI James - Thanks for an interesting post to the forum! I think that the traditional perception of "hands-on" relates to the production of a product like a cake or an entree, a graphical design piece, an electrical diagram, or a computer program. I see your point though, especially in Math. You need to apply rules to arrive at a "product" which is a solution to a problem. Best wishes - Susan
Hi Cheryl - Thanks for your post to the forum. In order to ask questions that you know your students will be able to relate to you must know your students which you obviously do - great work!! Best wishes - Susan
Hi Joseph - Welcome to ED 103! So many of our students come from busy homes and workplaces that are very distracting. I agree that we need to have classrooms that serve as a sort of oasis where they can concentrate on their learning and explore new ideas and possibilities. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career! Susan
