HI Stacie -Thanks for your post to the forum. I'm glad that you like the Minute Paper idea and hope that you will find it helpful. Best wishes! Susan
Hi Claire- Students do love participating in activities like mock trials. I agree that this sort of activity can be difficult to grade. I find that developing a really comprehensive grading rubric that is shared with the students before and after the activity is essential. Best wishes- Susan
Hi Claire - thanks for your post to the forum. You are right, students often have problems determining what are the most important concepts from our lessons. This is where we have to be the guides. I find that outlines, powerpoint (printed out) and other handouts make useful resources. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Joseph - Thanks for your post to the forum. I really like the evaluation that you described that is given early inb the term. There is still time to make changes in how the instructor is teaching and make the class successfull. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Dean - Thanks for your post to the forum. You make a good point - it is essential when using test banks that the instructor carefully screens the questions to make sure that they reflect what was taught in the class. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
HI Jimly- Thanks for your post to the forum. Students do indeed enjoy relating the concepts at hand to their own experiences. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Jody - Thanks for your post to the forum. As you mention, it is much more comfortable for students to answer questions about which they have personal experience. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Pamela- Thank you for your post to the forum and for sharing some excellent ideas gleaned from years of experience! The empathy you feel for your students is so apparent - best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Rob- Thanks for your post to the forum. I would probably do both. If the student generated question was a good one , I would use it on a final and definitely use it for future students. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
