Activity

This module reinforced that students need opportunities to apply what they learn in realistic situations. In plumbing, knowing a concept is only part of the learning process; students must also use that knowledge to plan, install, troubleshoot, and evaluate their work.

I intend to build on our classroom trainer house projects by giving students more responsibility for selecting materials, solving installation problems, and explaining their decisions. These tasks will connect NCCER instruction to workplace expectations while strengthening communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. I also look forward to learning how my peers design authentic learning experiences and assess student performance.

This module reinforced the importance of involving employers in curriculum development and revision. While NCCER provides the foundation for my plumbing curriculum, feedback from contractors, union apprenticeship representatives, and other industry partners helps connect instruction to workplace expectations.

I intend to gather more consistent feedback from these partners about the technical and employability skills students need. I will use their input to refine hands-on projects, reinforce areas where students need practice, and strengthen preparation for apprenticeships and employment. I also look forward to learning how my peers maintain employer partnerships and use feedback to improve their programs.
