I finished my BS degree via an on-line program from a well accredited college. About 12 years later it lost it's accreditation and eventually went out of business. Instead of contact all of it's alumni of the situation; I found out when I applied to a graduate program. My degree was unchanged but it was a very difficult to track down my transcripts. The institution may not have a legal obligation to contact all alumni about this situation but definitely a moral one.
