About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Thomas, I appreciate your comments about the term REFOCUS. By the definition of the terms you included you have refocused the direction of the course, content and students. The term is meant to capture the attention of instructors so they remain on guard as to how the course is going so they can make changes as needed to keep the students engaged and forward focused on the desired learning outcomes. Clarifying Your Expectations To Students

Hi Elizabeth, You have a solid foundation from which you will able to operate. You are organized and have planned out how you are going to conduct your classes. You are to be commended for all of your planning. Approach your first class with confidence and engage your students in some "ice breaker" activities that will enable you to get the feel of your class. Your Instructional Style

Hi Kenneth, I commend you for developing your own method of refining your presentation skills. Family has to be one of the toughest audiences you can face. Win them over and your students will be a piece of cake. Also, the canoeing skills course is a great idea for development. You have an audience that is already interested in the topic and you get to use different deliveries with them so you know how your students will react when you use these same techniques in the classroom/lab.
