About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Your Instructional Style

Hi Bryce, I would offer another way of surveying your students. In my classes I give each student a 3x5 card and ask them to comment on course. I have them turn in the cards as they leave the classroom for the last time. The cards aren't signed so the students can comment freely. I get very good suggestions and the students aren't intimidated. With verbal responses they may not comment as freely as they might by writing down their comments. Gary

Hi Kevin, You are doing all of the right things when it comes to student support. You are right on in your comments about the need for immediate feedback for students. I to use the next class meeting rule for returning work or graded tests. This shows the students you are working to keep the informed of their progress and status in the class.
