On the human side of teaching you use the same techniques as you have in your medical practice. Respect and rapport are critical for teaching success.
On the delivery side, break the content down into small segments so the students can build on the sequence of content and see how far they have progressed during the course.
Help them to "connect the dots" between what is being taught in the classroom/lab and the real world and you will have done a great job of instructing.
