These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Rachel, Two things are starting to occur with these students when they are in the clinical setting. They are starting to see relevancy and application to all of their efforts and study. This is what makes it real for them. Good points. Thanks. Gary
Hi Rachel, I agree with your point about learning from more experienced instructors. I always enjoy sitting in on a class because I know I will be able to take away something that I can use in my own class. Gary
Hi Charles, I am sure you are right about the impression that teacher could have made if she had presented herself as a professional educator rather than as she did. This is a good example that we all need to keep in mind as we approach the classroom. Gary
Hi Cristina, This is a good strategy to have as it shows the students that the instructor is forward focused and that they can achieve success if they are willing to invest the time and effort. Gary
Hi Michael, Good advice for all instructors. We need to make sure we involve and include all students, even those that aren't as outspoken as others. Gary
Hi Kristen, By bringing in these real life examples you are helping to your students to see application and relevancy to what they are learning. This really enhances their motivation and excitement. Gary
Hi Marilyn, Good way of handling the cell phone issue. Your results are amazing and I know your strategy will be of help to other instructors. Thanks for sharing this with us. Gary
Hi Gloria, I always like to hear from instructors that love their field and have the opportunity to teach within their career field. Your excitement I know carries your students to a higher level of involvement and learning. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi Dana, Good to hear about the getting of good ideas for your instructional planning. You hit upon a key point when you talk about making your expectations clear and concise. Gary
Hi Phonesavanh, This helps the students to get settled into the course and ready for the upcoming learning opportunities. Also, the games to be used as review tools to cover the previous class's content as they prepare for the knowledge and skills they will acquire. Gary
