Online learning may be difficult for certain individuals, as an online instructor it is our job to make sure our E-learners understand the material and I also picked up on that online is not much different than an in person class. You will still have the different variation of learners online as you would in person.

The difference between asynchronous and synchronous. The importance of knowing when to include these types of discussions into a discussion. When it is appropriate to use the two.

In order for your students to get to know you in an online learning/virtual learning environment, you need to make a descriptive Bio. with a picture. It helps the students understand who you are without actually engaging with them in person. Helps the students understand your level of professionalism and credentials.

Online courses are different compared to in person lectures. Online classes must be organized and prepared correctly in order for students to understand the material.

Having informative lecture notes are key to lecturing a successful classroom. Also do not over stimulate the students with loads of information. I learned that humans are capable of retaining 5-7 things at once any more information after this will not be retained. So, yes keep it simple but informative and teach in a way that works for you. Find your best teaching method and how to best engage with students.

Getting to know your students and having your students getting to know a little bit about you helps grow a more personal connection with them and helps ease nerves.

Greeting students, having a complete and organized syllabus, check list and objectives are all important items/skills needed to be successful as an instructor.

As an instructor you are a role model for your students. It is very important to present a professional and positive attitude. You are the example. In order to be viewed as a professional instructor you must also have confidence in your area of knowledge and be confident.
