About me

Activity

I appreciated the review of how important it is to think creatively and teach creatively. This will keep the students engaged and increase their critical thinking skills.

This was a good summary of the importance of soft skills and instructor flexibility. Each class and each individual student is different and a variety of teaching methods is needed. The challenge and fun of teaching is identifying what is needed to reach the class and individual students and seeing the results as they learn the subject.

It was a good review of the importance of truly connecting with the individual students, showing that as instructors we genuinely care about them and want them to succeed in class and in their lives.

I have found that mobility in the classroom is very helpful in keeping each student engaged and participating in the discussion and active learning.

The next term starts in 1.5 weeks and I'm looking for to doing the learning style assessments and developing different teaching stratgies into the daily instructional period.

I will use the student evaluation tools to see what types of learners the majority of the class is, and also the individuals. This information can then be shared with the tutors.

The story form of instruction is both entertaining and informative.

This is a good review of the different learning styles and how to meet the various needs of our students.

Comment on Elizabeth Kinney's post: Having a user friendly and detailed system for keeping important communications/records is very important. Since all of the work is done online the instructor must differentiate between what is needed to be kept and documented on and what can be discarded. It would be easy to keep everything and become overwhelmed with excess documentation.

Comment on Pamela Gabbay's post: I think  the suggestion to add new comments to keep the discussion going is very helpful. You as the instructor can also add new comments to direct the discussion to priority topics.
