Getting to the root of the behavior issue. Identifying where they need extra support to curve the negative behavior and leaning on their strengths for positive reinforcement.

Students who are struggling with content or behavior may have a lack of understanding of material. It is important to find the root of the struggle; this can help identify where the student needs extra support. 

First day expectations are important so students will know what is expected of them. This shows my confidence in the subject matter, giving the students confidence that they will learn what is needed from the program. It is helpful to have the most important info in the syllabus, highlighted or bold so students can reference back and find important info easily.

Not everyone learns the same, we need to understand how our students learn and do our best to implement many different ways of delivering the material, so all students feel they are getting the education needed to be successful.

It is important to connect with students. Finding common ground shows them we are human just like them. Once the initial "newness" wears off and they feel a small connection with instructors and other students the learning environment becomes a safe space to learn, grow and make mistakes that can be learned from. 

It is valuable to start classes off knowing your plan. Being early/ on time, having all necessary equipment ready by the time students arrive. Discussing clear expectations of the day and involving everyone in all class actives and discussions. 

To be the most successful instructor I can be, I will be a role model for my students and motivating them to be the do their best and complete the program. I am their first model so being professional, punctual, in dress code and delivering the content in a competent but fun way.
