I learned that I am a major player in student retention. Getting to know the students is something that I naturally want to do and do. I didn't realize the impact it has on retention. 

I also saw more clearly that my role is to support with with encouragement and content application and to refer student to the appropriate areas for assistance with other things. Role definition.

I got the value of a syllabus as a roadmap for students and that ist sets the climate for the class. I also got that I could have faculty review my syllabus and get feeback. Teamwork

 

I got a simple method for how to create a lesson plan. Also got how to apply the concept of the 15-18 min attentino span- set up lecture in 15 min segments and allow time for questions. Brilliant

 

Make checklists, have a note pad with me at all times to make notes, Active learning is key, the syllabus is a roadmap for the student. Constructed well it sets the tone for the class.

I have begun to make cnecklists, I am altering my teaching method to one that will be more specific for the students.

 

I got that Iam a facilitor and not necessarily the smartest person in the roo. I am there to be a riole modela and encourager. It is alos an oppoertunity for me to develop as person and professional. Develop an IDP.
