I learned a lot about this motivation, not just about educators, but about any role where people guide, train or influence others, including my own work training helpers and apprentice in the plumbing trade.
Its been my experience that without motivation, there is no empowerment, no matter how many teaching styles an instructor can come up with. Younger students focus more on games then books; the older generation who actually pay for their education would have no choice to find their motivation to succeed in leaning.
I learned how not to treat students as business customers. Although they are paying customers, we as instructors, should maintain character and focus on why the student is in the classroom.
This training was a good resource for me and helped me understand the importance of confidentiality regarding student information
This was the first time I hear about FERPA; however, I learned that under this act, students are allowed to review their files
I learned that pre-preparations prevent poor performances. If I failed to plan, I planned to fail.
I learned that once noted, work on it immediately and not let it get out of hand.
I learned how important it is to develop a strategy and different styles of teaching to work with challenging students
I learned about establishing clear and précised expectations. In my world, following expectations = job security
I learned that there are different ways of learning and teaching, regardless of the style of teaching, as long as you get your message across and the student learns from it.
