What makes you a stand out as a good "Teacher"

I would love to hear from anyone in education on what makes you stand out as a good teacher.

I have a few things I can share about myself.

First I teach with Enthusiasm.

I Incorporate Humor  when every possible.

I show a true support and concern about the students success. I also remain humble.

here are just a few things that I have done for my students.

1. Treat them as a person not a number

2. Getting them involved from the first day

3. Respecting them as adults.

4. Make sure the whole class is following along with me during the hands-on portion of the lecture.

5. Listen to them, and let them know you are their for them (pertaining to lecture or hands-on activities.

6. Being fair with all students - Ethically and moraly

7. Teaching them so they further their education.

I listen to my students. If they express that they'd like more hands-on activities, I do it. If they tell me a test was too easy, I make it harder. Of course, you can't give them everything they ask for, but sometimes they do have good ideas.

I agree.  I involve them in the process of learning.  Great them in the morning with a smile on your face.  Whatever happened outside of school stays outside of school.  Bring your enthusiam with you everyday to work and into the classroom.  If you love the subject you are teaching it will shine through in your presentation of the material.

Marks post read as if it poured out of my very own soul.  Humor, humility/servanthood mindset, and caring.  These combined, my friends, make-up the Breakfast of Champions.  Great job, Steve.

You have to be excited about what you teach or your students wont be. So, its important to find new ways of teaching things and switching it up. Make teach fun and it should be!

I think being passionate about learning yourself is key to being a good instructor.  I also believe you should really care about your students "getting" the material you are teaching.

I have been teaching (from Preschool to adults) for many years, and I can't agree with these comments more!  Be respectful at all times (if you expect it, you must give it!) Be approachable, enthusiastic and fair....oh...and laugh with them 'til your sides hurt!!!
