Greeting Students

Something as simple as greeting students on a daily basis means a lot to them.  It is a great way to build rapport with students, and it lets students know that you are friendly, personable, approachable, and caring.  Everyone deserves a hello, good bye, and smile!

I agree, I keep a database of students and how they are progressing (grades) in the course. I also include a section for Comments and I keep track of the kudos I send along to students. The database allows me to see who I have responded to and what I said. You can always find something positive to say to a student, even if it is acknowledging how well they are trying. After a vacation, I send each of them a little welcome back note. Feedback I receive is that they appreciate these comments and that no one else has ever done them before. Breaking the mold for the "typical" e-learning facilitator is what I achieve to do.

GREETING A STUDENT IN A MANNER THAT ENHANCES ONES ROLE AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE MAKES A STUDENT RESPONSIBLE AND FEEL COMMITED TO THE GROUP AND INVOLVE WHOLE HEARTEDLY IN THE SITUATION

I also agree, when we greet our students in a professional manner we  make them feel comfrotable so they feel that they can ask questions and ask for help when they dont understand something a smile never hurt anybody :)
