Update on accommodations for student with disabilities

Chronicle for Higher Education reports that there has been a new federal court ruling on accommodations for a student with disabilities.  The medical school must provide additional assistance to help a student with a hearing disability (deafness).  This assistance means an interpreter and transcription services.

I think it is fabulous that they will accomodate for students with disabilities.

I have a student who requires testing accomodations.  Perhaps there are ways that I can adapt my teaching style for her, but I'm not certain of her specific disability.  Am I allowed this information?  BTW, my son in law school gets testing accomodations for his "unseen" disability, and this modification has made a huge difference in his success.

In most cases, the student doesn't mind if the professor know about the specific disability.  Just be sure to work withyou Disabilities office so that they can help you get the information that you need.@MysteryDDS :
