Let's look today at the idea of purpose and how this idea can help you as you continually move toward a better life.
For nearly 40 years, I've been developing educational programs, giving seminars, and talking to people all over the globe for a single purpose: I want to do as much as I can to build a better world, and I've chosen this way to do it.
In my teaching, I put a lot of time and energy into helping other people develop and strengthen a clear purpose, too. Sometimes we call it a goal or a vision, but no matter what we call it, it has tremendous power, especially when it is very clear and we strengthen and affirm it over and over. It's kind of like the guy who says, "All my life I've wanted to be somebody. Now I see that I should have been more specific!"
You see, a specific purpose that you care deeply about gives you tremendous energy and tremendous resources. I know hundreds, maybe thousands of stories about people who have accomplished amazing things out of a strong sense of purpose. Most of them are everyday heroes. You don't read about them in the papers, but they are heroes, nevertheless. I tell some of their stories on the Winner's Circle Network email.
What about you? What's your purpose? If you're not sure, ask yourself some questions: What do you value? To what do you devote your time and energy? Is your purpose survival, or something more? Has it changed from what it used to be? How might it be different in the future?
Start today to be the everyday hero of your own purposeful life!
