Retention is an intergral part of working for the For Profit organizational sector of Higher Edcuation.  You will not save every student but yes, if one is saved then all of the effort is well worth it.  Some strategies I have found benficial is to make sure to set standards on day 1.  If students fully understand the expectations then they are likely to abide by them.  For those who still do not or cannot follow the expectation, as we all have found to be true, life's circumstances can often get in the way, communication is key.  I allow my students to text me, email me, Facebook me, and so on.  There is always a way for the student to reach out to me.  I also get their information as well.  I need to know thier cell phone, alternate number, email, twitter, instagram, facebook.  I find that social networking works great when they are not answering the phone. 

Any other ideas???? I am open to all.
