Learning goals are an effective way to have students attain and retain knowledge gained through both course instruction and practical application. When students are able to customize the goals to either their preferences or familiarity, they tend to remember them more. Our students became more engaged when we made a short film our class assignment. The goals of learning drone flying techniques, understanding application of the classroom material needed to pass the FAA Part 107 exam, and teamwork building were encouraged and supported through the assignment. Thus, the students learned more and understood more of the material covered in class by applying some of that knowledge of drones and rules and regulations to the assignment
