<p>Linda Williams</p> <p>Career Services can have a vital significant role in the retention process.&#160; Students become more engaged in the learning process when they can visualize themselves in the role they are studying and training for.&#160; This especially helps when it becomes tough to continue on, by helping to keep them motivated with the prospect of a job upon completion.&#160; I've also learned that to effectively increase student retention, schools should focus on:</p> <ul> <li>effective admissions procedures</li> <li>information and well-planned orientations programs</li> <li>good mentoring of all students</li> <li>Fabulous graduation ceremonies to celebrate with family &amp; friends and to remember and</li> <li>placement strategies that help students get good jobs</li> </ul>
