President Franklin Delano Roosevelt quoted, "We know that equality of individual ability has never existed and never will, but we do insist that equality of opportunity still must be sought."

It took 50 years for the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) under President George H. Bush, July 26, 1990, who had echoed a similar sentiment: "Together, we must remove the physical barriers we have created and the social barriers that we have accepted."
