I learned about onsite visits and why they are important for educational institutions. I learned that onsite visits are usually announced in advance and can be conducted by agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education or an accrediting agency. The main purpose of an accrediting agency’s visit is to make sure that the institution is doing what it says it is doing and following the required standards. I also learned that an interim audit can be a common reason for a Department of Education onsite visit. Overall, this section helped me understand the purpose of onsite visits and how different agencies may be involved in reviewing an institution.
