Through this topic, I reinforced that FERPA compliance requires balancing student privacy with institutional responsibilities for disclosure, safety, and regulatory compliance. One important takeaway for me was understanding how legitimate educational interest, written consent, and proper documentation of disclosures support both compliance and student trust. I also found it valuable to review best practices related to privacy, employee access, security protocols, and handling student records in both traditional and digital environments. In my role, I intend to continue strengthening institutional practices, staff awareness, and procedures to ensure student information is protected and handled consistently.
