From this module, I learned more about FERPA and the importance of protecting student privacy and educational records. I learned that students have rights regarding access to their records, but schools and staff must also ensure that confidential or sensitive information is handled properly before being shared. The module also helped me better understand how important professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical decision making are within educational and workplace settings.
I intend to apply this knowledge by being more mindful when handling personal or confidential information in both academic and professional environments. Since I work in healthcare and administrative settings, confidentiality and privacy are extremely important. This module reinforced the importance of following policies carefully, protecting sensitive information, and communicating respectfully and professionally with others.
