This module reinforced the importance of FERPA compliance in protecting student educational records and ensuring proper handling of personally identifiable information. One key takeaway for me is the importance of clearly defining school officials and legitimate educational interest, as well as understanding when student information may or may not be disclosed. In my role working closely with student records and enrollment management, I intend to continue strengthening institutional practices, annual notifications, and staff awareness to ensure compliance and protect student privacy.
