This module helped me understand that games and simulations can be powerful instructional tools when they are intentionally aligned with learning objectives. I learned that their primary purpose in education is not entertainment but engagement. Games and simulations can help students actively participate in the learning process, practice skills in a low-risk environment, and apply their knowledge to realistic situations.
As an online instructor, I intend to apply these concepts by incorporating more interactive and scenario-based learning activities into my courses. Even simple forms of gamification, such as challenges, problem-solving activities, and real-world simulations, can increase student motivation and participation. I believe these strategies can help students make stronger connections to course content, improve retention, and create a more engaging and meaningful learning experience.
