This module increased my awareness of how conscious and unconscious biases can influence interactions, decision-making, and outcomes in both educational and healthcare settings. I learned that bias is often unintentional, yet it can affect communication, assessment, expectations, and opportunities for those we serve. Recognizing personal assumptions and actively seeking diverse perspectives are important steps in reducing the impact of bias.

I intend to apply what I learned by engaging in ongoing self-reflection, questioning my assumptions, and striving to create inclusive learning and clinical environments. As a nurse and educator, I will focus on treating each individual as a unique person, using objective evidence to guide decisions, and fostering respectful, equitable interactions with students, patients, families, and colleagues. By remaining mindful of potential biases, I can contribute to better learning experiences and more patient-centered care.
