We should always focus on being a team player and improving our communication skills because they can determine whether we thrive in our work environments or, as surprising as it sounds, face setbacks.
Comment on Monica Carlos's post: Teaching students the importance of communication alongside other success keys is essential. It’s not just about what you say, but how you say it, and how well you listen. By fostering communication skills early on, students will be better equipped to navigate their internships and future jobs, and ultimately, succeed in the workplace."Comment on Scott Sherman's post: "I think it’s really important to teach students not only about professional skills but also about the importance of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Cultivating strong, positive relationships with coworkers is essential for career longevity and job satisfaction. Sometimes it's not about the technical aspects of the job, but how well you work with others that truly makes a difference."
"Ultimately, it’s all about helping students see that work success isn’t just about getting things right the first time but learning and growing through the process. These keys, when taught early on, can provide students with a strong foundation to build their career success and give them the tools they need to thrive, not just survive, in their internships and future jobs."
The five keys to work success are great tips that every student should learn. As someone who has had issues in my internship in the past, these keys would have been very useful to me. Some of them may be common sense, but it's good to remind yourself of the five keys and think about them when considering areas of improvement. These will be important to teach to students when they are starting internships or jobs. It was so helpful to also read about the application of these keys. Sometimes we think there is no way to improve our weaknesses, but there always is, and we should always promote this idea to our students.
This quote, "Help students help themselves. When you cultivate a strong sense of community within your class, you empower learners to become self-reliant and self-supporting- as individuals and as a group. Remind them that they can go to one another for extra help, to share resources, or just hang out and de-stress." is incredible advice. Also, the 5 Keys (both sets) contain such good information that I feel like posters need to be made for the wall in the career center.
Really enjoyed the "5 Keys to Success" ,it's a great tool to offer students to become more rounded employees. Also, it was a great point to teach students to not include themselves in office drama; this just causes problems and can lean to issues with co-workers.
I learned the importance of coaching students on how they can effectively integrate and contribute as a valuable team member within their organization.
The 5 keys to success are also a good thing to share with students, as well as how to be communicative!
I learned that it's important to share why internships are of value and to share out the importance of working.
In order to be successful at your job, working as a team is vital.
I found that the Five Keys to Success to be the most relevant and helpful section of this module.
