What I Learned About Transferring Credits
I have learned that the transfer of credits is a process that requires clarity, transparency, and a precise understanding of institutional policies. Each institution decides how many credits it will accept, what requirements previous courses must meet, and whether life experience can be considered as part of the evaluation. I also understood that students must submit their transcripts and meet criteria such as accreditation of the institution they attended or minimum GPA requirements. Another important point is that we must be completely honest with students. We must explain not only whether they can transfer credits into our institution, but also that the credits they earn here may not always be accepted by other schools unless there is a formal agreement between institutions. This is why it is essential to know our internal policies, review the catalog, and be aware of any articulation agreements with other institutions.
