I learned that legal and safety concerns are often the biggest barrier for employers, especially with minors. The FLSA primary beneficiary test was useful—it gives a clear framework for determining when to pay interns.
I plan to share safety checklists and liability information with employers upfront to ease their concerns. I'll also review our current unpaid placements against the FLSA criteria and explore intermediary resources like Career Catalyst to handle payroll and liability for us.
Safety is so important and often overlooked. Students and partners need to be aware of rules and regulations and need to adhere to those guidelines.
This module helped me understand the importance of following WBL laws and protecting students. I plan to be more intentional about documentation, safety, and making sure placements meet all requirements.
Safety will continue to be a integral component of all training agreements.
It is imperative that students and employers follow all safety protocols to keep both students and other employees safe, which will allow this important program to continue.
Safety is a must as with any employment. CTE students need to respect the rules and adults who they will be working with.
