students with learning disabilities sometimes need some extra time or extra added explanation of the lesson. I always encourage any of my students to see me for extra help if they need to.
I always go over lectures or any important points more than 3times. I always ask students too make sure that they are understanding,if not will do a one on one with students after class if needed.
Most of our text books have CD's that come with them and I like to point out that if the students are having a hard time understanding the material to use the CD's and not to hesitate to come to me with any questions. This is where taking the time to communicate with your students, making eye contact, etc. will help with this monitoring.
I also suggest private tutoring, on my time to encourage and support students with difficulties. Not all take advantage of the opportunity, but the ones that do, show marked improvement rather rapidly
