This module for me really just put the proper emphasis on making sure records are kept organized and reviewed for any errors. I feel like at times it can be easy to feel like the process is mundane or not as important as other parts of the job, but when re-examined...employment verification definitely demands a high prioritization. 

I appreciated the table comparing the different methods of verification, and I see how in my current role each play out. For example, we use surveys and 3rd party verifications. The 3rd party work is always expensive but comes back very accurate. Surveys have been found to vary in acuracy among graduates vs employers. 

I didn't realize the significance of reporting the details behind where a graduate goes after college. I got a heightened sense of the need for accurate reporting. 

The more a student knows about the company policies on dealing with felony charges, the better they will be prepared to interview. 

It's alarming that some Career Services professional don't feel the need to treat each student with respect and dignity. Unfortunately making mistakes as a teenager or young adult can follow you for a long time., however second chances and grace should be extended. 

Maintaining rapport and building new relationships with employers is crucial to the success of meeting the students and employer's needs. By utilizing an incentive program, employers are less likely to forget about the relationship you have built with them already. 

This module reminded me to be an advocate for my students while also helping them become an advocate for themselves. Giving students skills to be autonomous in finding the right fit for them, will provide them with confidence for any future situations. 

When contacting employers, the career advisor must be aware of their timing, adjust to employers attitude for the day, and how to remain flexible when calling and speaking to a variety of different people. Depending on the cold, warm, or hot call, it is important that the advisor take notes for any future calls. 

This module discusses the importance of networking with employers as a career advisor. Helping out students find good jobs means that we also have to have positive relationships with outside employers as well. 

I thought this was a very important section as it reminded us how to add personal touches through online platforms. In order for us to be effective with our students, we need to communicate online the same way we would communicate in-person. This can be done by utilizing the ARCS model.
