Technology is a requirement in education. Sometimes, there's almost too many choices - schoology.com vs. yammer.com, Google Drive vs. OneDrive! And the list goes on!
But it is also important to note in regards to technology, educational institutions also need to update policy and procedures to keep up with technology! For example, we have had to update our policy and procedures regarding employee and student conduct to include online behavior.
Faculty and Administration need to conduct themselves appropriately in reality and the virtual world as they are representatives of our institution. We now require employees to acknowledge that their online behavior is a reflection of their character. Social Media Accounts are now required to be connected with our institution so we can ensure that their behavior online is appropriate at all times.
