This module provides the reasons why students start an online course and "drop out" or withdraw. At one point they realize that the online course is not for everyone.

This is not so much what I learned but rather what I appreciate. I appreciated the sample communication code of conduct and the sample list of components in a patteren for communication. These are very very helpful.

As with any job, to get it done right you have to have the right tools. With Online learning, the right technology tools are essential for communication and learning outcomes. As an instructor/facilitator I need to assess technology tools, know the functions, pros and cons of the tools, identify with the students what tools we will be using, get student feedback on the effectiveness of  the tools.

I have to say just how thankful I am to be a part of MBA Research Curriculum Center. They are a Not-for-profit, research-based support for all Business Administration educators: entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, management/administration, and marketing.  They provide standards, course guides, curriculum builder, LAP modules and many many resources. Our State has been a member with MBA for years. Through MBA's Learning Center you can access hundreds of lessons that can easily be transferred from their Canvas to your Canvas. Their modules even integrate with Google classroom, Moodle and other system apps. No need to worry that you are simply transferring.  MBA has… >>>

Putting content into the the online course is more than just transferring. It's about transforming. We don't have to reinvent the wheel. Just make sure I have a consistent, user friendly, engaging course layout.

Expecting and accepting this will definitely lessen misinterpretations.

Having the students "buy-in" the online learning platform is essential. Developing a partnership with the student learners along with engaging the students from the beginning will help with the "buy-in."

Well I learned a new term: Front loading - making all course content available on day one . Of course I know this is dependent on the course and obviously the grade level. I teach high school and front loading is not something I would not do.

I have had a number of my colleagues express frustrations in getting their students to transition from the traditional classroom setting to Remote learning. As we know due to the Pandemic. They ask why I'm not so frustrated. I'm not frustrated because we (me and my students) have been using technology tools prior to Remote learning. My students use their Smart Board, use their desktops, their laptops, use their phones within the classroom. I teach and facilitate learning in the classroom using Canvas, Google Classroom. We do this consistently. My students understand the various ways technology can help them achieve… >>>

To achieve active learning it is best to pair your teaching style with that of being a facilitator. Pair that with the appropriate technology tools and the students should achieve the course outcomes.
