Hi Tim. I agree. I have actually recommended to students that they attend a face-to-face class because they struggle online. I really feel that you have to have excellent academic skills and need to be very self-directed to be successful online. Tina

Hi Victoria, this quarter I have been working with faculty to make sure they use the sandwich rule in their feedback. I agree that it helps learners understand how they can improve as well as keep them motivated! Tina
Hi Kimberly, I think calling the learning to try to determine a plan for improvement is a great idea! It can also help the learner understand that you are there to support him/her. Tina

Hi Scott, I like the idea of taking the learners to the next level. It will keep them from being overwhelmed and progress to higher levels throughout the course. Tina
That is disappointing:-( Tina

Hi Linda, we are using web conferencing to hold office hours, so learners can call in and get help or ask questions. It has reduced the time faculty spend individually answering questions. Tina
I think you are right Lee! Tina
Hi Linda, we have found the same thing when faculty have called learners. It could be that the reason they are online is because they can work independently. They also may feel that they are being put on the spot. Tina
Hi Kate, that is an excellent strategy! Tina
Hi Kate, I completely agree. The good thing is that there are many excellent students, so generally we end up having to manage only a few learners who require more attention. Tina
