Dixie, These are great methods for effectively, utilizing lesson plans. In addition, we can keep a column (on our daily, active lesson plans) to keep notes of follow-up tasks that come-up during the lecture. For instance, a student can ask for more information on a particular topic from discussion and the instructor can make a note to bring the research information to the next class session. Rodger, Thank you for your post. I also have several "canned" segments that can be used in various situations. Interestingly, those "canned" segments can be used as replacements for lectures, in cases where an instructor would feel that they would be better to "spark" the students' interest, more than the planned activity. Geneva-Marie, This is a great method to assess the prior knowledge of your students. It is not an "overt" method, so students will not have "test anxiety" or feel under pressure to discuss their knowledge of the subject. In addition, this serves as an "ice breaker" activity, which will get the students comfortable with sharing their thoughts and opinions in the classroom. Tremayne Simpson
Jeannine, I also find the the web supplements (provided by the publisher) are highly interactive for the students and enable them to apply course concepts in varying concepts. Thank you for your post. Tremayne Simpson
Carlos, This is a great suggestion. For instructors that have larger classes, it would be a good idea to use the overhead camera (if available) to ensure that all students are receiving an equal vantage point. Tremayne Simpson
Mary , Thank you for your post. Proper usage of integrated technology is a great way to adhere to multiple student learning styles (in this case the visual learner). It is also great to see that your students are using their breaks to access class content, with their mobile devices. Tremayne Simpson

Jay, I agree that it is important to not "rush" the class instruction. Using periodic "check-in" points during the lecture (to assess student comprehension), is a crucial element in establishing pace and making sure that the content is not being delivered to quickly. Tremayne Simpson
Jeannine, Great observation. In addition, the Learning Taxonomy can serve as a guide for proper student assessments. Determing their individual pace in absorbing the content can provide an instructor with the information that is needed to refine/create assessment tools. In class activities, discussion, etc. can serve as the "Litmus" test for understanding student comprehension. Tremayne Simpson
Carlos, Excellent point. It is also important that instructors periodically review the learning objectives that are set for the class, to make sure that they are updated to meet the needs of the designated industry. Suggestions for learning objective changes can be provided to administration for possible revision. Tremayne Simpson
Jeannine, Great suggestion. As I mentioned earlier in the discussion board, instructor collaboration is an important part of the success of the institution. When instructors work together on course curricula, the students benefit by receiving a consistant educational experience...regardless of the course section/instructor. Tremayne Simpson
