Jarred, This is a great method for integrating technology. I have used a smart board before and I was impressed with the vast capabilities. Being able to capture notes and provide them to the students is more accurate than relying on their "notetaking" for accurate, lecture information. Tremayne Simpson

David, I also use this method with my students, in a different context. I teach General Education courses and I have a daily activity that enables the students to find current events that are relative to course concepts. We must develop competent graduates that are aware of industry trends and well-prepared for their careers. carolyn, This is a great method, primarily because the "20 minute" time limit falls within the parameters of the average adult attention span. Information is easier to retain, when it can be provided in intervals. Tremayne Simpson

Bruce , This is an effective way to assess student comprehension of information. I have a similar method, however I ask that the students write down potential questions (that they believe will be asked on the chapter exam) during the lecture and (time permitting) we spend the last portion of class answering the questions in a "discussion format". This has proven to be beneficial to all students because it serves as an "impromptu" study session for the exam. Tremayne Simpson

Warren, I agree completely, updating the program curricula is an important task for all programs. Faculty and administration should work in tandem to ensure that the course content, textbooks and materials are aligned with the appropriate field of study. What industry do you represent?
