TERESITA, Good observation. It is important that instructors maintain consistency in all of the course sections that they teach. This is especially important for courses that are taught in sequences. Tremayne Simpson

Martha, This follows the format of the "core" course structuring at my school. Although I teach general education lecture courses, I still try to implement this method in my classes. Tremayne Simpson

Martha, I also post a detailed lesson plan on the board for daily class lectures. I find that it works well with the organization of the class and it can also serve as a great reference for an "end-of-the-class" daily review. Tremayne Simpson

Caren, This is a great method for managing classtime. I also use a "variety" approach with my courses, because it adheres to the student "attention span" and I can use the various activities as persistant assessment devices for student comprehension. Tremayne Simpson
Adel , This is a great method for enhancing the classroom demonstration. Instructors generally have several roles for their students and "entertainer" is usually one of those roles. In order to keep them attentive during the lecture, I find that "pop cultural" references are very important and they can really "spark" the students' interest in the subject. Tremayne Simpson
TERESITA, Do you assign the prior learning pre-tests/quizzes during the first week of the course? Tremayne Simpson
cole, This is a great method for identifying student knowledge. As I mentioned earlier in the post collaborative activities are a great way to assess student subject knowledge. The instructor will have to keenly observe the group interactions to fully understand the individual levels of prior subject knowledge. Also, "random selection" of student groups can be helpful as well. Tremayne Simpson
TERESITA, In addition, students appreciate pedagogical innovations and the new technologies that are used in the classroom could enhance their learning experience. However it is important that we do not overwhelm them with too many technological enhancements, because it could cause a little confusion during the lecture. Tremayne Simpson
Rodger, I agree. Instructors have to adapt to the technologies that are being used by our students. We can find ways to include social networks as course resources and also provide information on "best practices" for individual usage of these sites. Tremayne Simpson
Desirae, This is a great observation. Sometimes it is best to email or post the links to the students for later review. Students can lose focus easily if they are presented with too many examples and changes of pace. Tremayne Simpson
