Linda, I agree with your observation. Generally, final projects and activities should be created with the expectation that students have advanced to the higher levels of the learning taxonomy. The course learning objectives should support these expectations. Tremayne Simpson
Linda, These are great methods for adhering to varying learning styles. How do you adapt your student assessments (quizzes and exams) to accomodat various learning styles? Tremayne Simpson

Karen, I have also taught 4 hour class sessions and I agree that constant review of the material is important. In addition "segmenting" the lecture throughout the session, with intermittent activities, can assist in the students' retention of information. Regardless, of how the lesson plan is developed, it is important to avoid inundating the students with long segments of lecture. Tremayne Simpson
Crystal, Videos can provide a great a supplement to a learning unit. In addition, the instructor can hold a discussion (to assess student application of material), periodically, during the video. Tremayne Simpson
Kleinkauf, It is also important to thoroughly review the objectives, to ensure that they are worded properly. One "misplaced" word can alter the intended learning outcome, in a particular objective. Tremayne Simpson
Caroline, I agree that usage of the internet can be effective in presenting students with multiple examples of the subject matter. However, it is important that students are able to differentiate "scholarly" vs. "non-scholarly" sources, when using the internet for research. Tremayne Simpson
Thomas, I agree that it is a daunting task to present theoretical lectures to students. In my experience, these lectures have to be "segmented" to maximize student comprehension and attentiveness. If possible, collaborative activities (involving the theory) can work well to engage the students and to assess their overall understanding of the topic. Tremayne Simpson
Siobhan, Once your students critique the selected video, do they have an opportunity to present a summary to their classmates? Tremayne Simpson
Siobhan, I agree. It is important that the learning objectives are listed (on the syllabus) in ascending order to reflect the levels of the learning taxonomy. Tremayne Simpson

Siobhan, I agree that lesson plans should be tailored to the specific needs of each class group. I typically present a skeletal outline of the class lesson plans during the first session and add specific detail, once I have initially assessed the students in my class. Tremayne Simpson
