Marshall, It is great to start a precedent at your school. Students generally appreciate innovative methods and (in most cases) they will bear with any perceived technical difficulties. This may also inspire them to be more creative in their assignments and class projects. Tremayne Simpson
Rochelle, Providing students with a vast amount of instructional resources, can assist in them making their learning experience intrinsic. Intrinsically motivated learning can lead to a better student retention of information and can enable them to find alternative connections to the presented class content. Tremayne Simpson
Jennifer, I am an advocate for using alumni to be guest speakers for courses. Their experience as students with success in the field, can be used to motivate or inspire the future graduates. In addition, they can discuss the obstacles and difficulties that they faced, to provide examples for students that may be having a tough time in the program. Tremayne Simpson
Rochelle, These are great methods for implementing the learning taxonomy. In addition it is important to explain the hierarchial format of the learning taxonomy to students, so that they will understand the validity of their assignments. Tremayne Simpson

Karen, It is also important that the students take the evaluations seriously and complete them for all of the courses. Completion rates can suffer, whenever students do not see the value in completing the evaluations. Tremayne Simpson
Discussion Comment
Jennifer, This is a great method for receiving student input. I also use informal group discussions to hear candid student feedback. Tremayne Simpson
Amos , In most cases, "faculty development" occurs through experience. There is not a "one size fits all" lesson plan that can meet the needs of all students. The instructor has to assess their students in order to determine the best course of plans for that particular group. Tremayne Simpson
Linda, This is a very diverse instructional approach. Do you ever witness any "crossover" in the learning styles? For example; a visual learner that requests verbal exams or an auditory learner that requests a written exam. Tremayne Simpson
Roxsie, Do you give the quiz during the first class session? Also, does the diagnostic quiz count toward their course grade? Tremayne Simpson
Linda, Peer learning can be a highly effective instructional technique. In many cases, students are motivated by the success of their peers and in this case, they can be motivated by another student's experiences. Tremayne Simpson
