Activity

Demonstrations can be practiced and improved on with iterations.

Instructors need to create a motivating and engaging environment where the students are able to gel and get a sense of belonging and ownership to the subject matter they are learning.

Advanced planning and preparation enhance the learning experience, and respectful and interpersonal exchange makes for more interactive and more relatable discussion.  Making sure that the instructor is prepared also avoids distraction and confusion and ensures that the subject matter is presented completely.  Tools to ensure a comprehensive classroom environment includes checklists and instructor note taking.

Projecting professionalism in punctuality, dress, speech, and demeanor as well as enthusiasm for the subject matter is important not only for providing a model for the profession, but for engaging the students and motivating attention and participation.

There are not very many tools available for me to use technology for instructor and course notes.  I intend to experiment with OneNote to be able to tag and organize information and keep version control and iterations of instructor notes as well as tag contemporary and relevent content to supplement the areas where I am assigned to facilitate.

Instructors, by focusing on the course objectives and being mindful of the dynamics and duration of each class, should create iteratively refined lessons plans with detail sufficient enough to deliberately transfer subject matter.  Maintaining the discipline of a course notebook will facilitate iterations of the instructor notes for the lesson plans.  Quizzes and assessments are good sources for refining and revising the lesson plans, instructor notes, to meet course objectives.

Curricula must align with course objectives. If achieving a standard is the course objective, the evaluation of achievement should include a demonstration or application of a procedure.

As instructors develop in maturity, the detail that is included in lesson plans may decrease; however, it is important and constructive for instructors to continue to revise and improve lesson plans to accommodate content that has evolved, such as standards or technology innovations.

Involving your students in areas of lesson planning can engage them in ways that are consistent with their learning styles and exploit opportunities for them to share experiences when they are already familiar with the subject matter.  This is a technique that will allow the instructor to avoid boredom and utilize the class time in an efficient and effective manner.

The type of test utilized will differ based on the general goals and objectives of the course and the intended application of the material for the students moving forward.
